Chisinau, 4 September /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu today met Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan, Japanese Diet House of Representatives Member Taro Kimura, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
The speaker thanked Japan for its support in developing the country, including through a series of financially and technically supported projects in the fields of economy, agriculture, education and health.
Andrian Candu advocated strengthening the Moldovan-Japanese interparliamentary relations, including turning to account the potential within the parliamentary friendship groups, to be created within the parliaments in Chisinau and Tokyo.
"The openness of the Japanese Embassy in Chisinau and Moldovan Embassy in Tokyo represents a further step towards a new level of cooperation between the two countries. This will boost the parliamentary cooperation agenda and create prerequisites for the exchange of experience and mutual visits between MPs from Moldova and Japan", said Adrian Candu.
The parliament speaker made an appeal to Japanese businesspeople to invest in Moldova, stressing that the country offered both economic conditions for trade with EU member states, as well as with the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Special Adviser to the Japanese Prime Minister Taro Kimura said that Japan would continue to support Moldova’s efforts of European integration and fund development projects, including in the economic, environmental fields, improving the business environment, modernising education, health and agriculture.
The Japanese official said that Moldovan wines were becoming increasingly popular on the Japanese market, expressing the Japanese authorities’ willingness to support the import of Moldovan wine.
Japan had offered Moldova non-refundable financial assistance worth 92.8 million dollars and loans worth 108.2 million dollars by late 2014.
