Group of protesters' representatives meet presidency representatives in Moldova

Chisinau, 8 September /MOLDPRES/ - A group of protesters’ representatives for intermediation from the Great National Assembly Square met advisers of President Nicolae Timofti at the government today. Teh latter said that some claims of the citizens would lead to a political collapse.
Protesters presented their claims to councillors and showed dissatisfaction with the fact that the president, as well as the premier and parliament speaker did not personally come to the meeting. They announced that they would not leave the Square until they all their requests would be met and the persons who are responsible for the situation in the banking system would be held liable.
"They are trying to defy the citizens again, but we will not surrender," said Andrei Nastase, one of the protesters, during the meeting.
The president’s councillors explained the president’s position to the protesters and specified that his resignation would only lead to a political collapse.
President Nicolae Timofti also issued a public statement in which he announced that he would not resign not to put the stability of Moldova at risk.
Thousands of people protested in the Great National Assembly Square and requested the resignation of the country's leadership, early parliamentary elections and finding the money embezzled from the banking system.
