OSCE trains Moldovan servicemen in managing weapons, ammunition stocks

Chisinau, 10 September /MOLDPRES/- The OSCE Mission in Moldova, in cooperation with the Defence Ministry, organise an advanced training course in management of weapons and ammunition stocks on 9-25 September.
The head of the weapons and military equipment department, lieutenant-colonel Andrei Camerzan said that the 11 officers and non-commissioned officers would be trained by experts from Austria, Germany and Sweden in terms of chemical testing of ammunition in depots of the National Army, through various processes of artificial aging of ammunition and analysis of the latter's stability.
The servicemen will also familiarize with the way of use of a mobile mini-laboratory of chemical testing, which has instruments and devices for determining the wear of ammunition. Camerzan added that a technical guide in ammunition management would be worked out, which would subsequently be used in training Moldovan servicemen.
The training course is carried out under a memorandum of understanding between the Defence Ministry and OSCE on the enforcement of a complex programme in the sector of small arms and light weapons, as well as conventional weapons in Moldova, signed in 2010.
