Chisinau, 10 September /MOLDPRES/- Representatives of the Kroll company will be invited to Chisinau to continue negotiations on the second stage of the investigation on the three problem banks under special administration. The National Committee on Financial Stability postponed the approval of a decision on selecting a consortium due to continue investigations, on grounds that the Kroll company demanded "excessively much for the phase of recovering" the robbed resources.

The consortium, made up of the Kroll and Steptoe & Johnson LLP companies, is the only of the four internationally famous companies invited to tender, to expressed willingness to carry out investigations at  the three problem banks - Banca de Economii (Savings Bank), Banca Sociala (Social Bank) and Unibank.

"Late on 9 September, we had the last meeting to identify the reaction of the company, and the unanimous decision of the committee's members was to invite the Kroll company to Chisinau for direct negotiations", Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet said.

"I hope our invitation will be honored as soon as possible and  we will have a result", the premier said. If we fail to reach an agreement with Kroll, "the next solution is to announce a new public tender, yet already not addressed punctually to four service providers, but an open one."

The consortium is to provide a clear chronological picture on people who controlled suspicious transactions, who controlled the banks, who benefited from the investigated transactions. Also, the consortium will initiate civil, criminal, inter-governmental, insolvency measures, in coordination with the National Bank, in Moldova and abroad, to pursue, retain and recover assets.
