Moldovan premier meets GasNatural Fenosa official

Chisinau, 11 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet had a meeting with GasNatural Fenosa Managing Director of Regulated Gas and Electricity Business Antoni Peris Mingot. The sides discussed the situation in the energy sector of Moldova, including issues related to electricity tariffs and their recent developments, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The GasNatural Fenosa managing director pointed out that the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) had increased electricity prices on average by 37 per cent, a rise which covers the costs of acquisition, but does not ensure the recovery of past losses. Furthermore, the new decisions on electricity rates are currently suspended. Antoni Peris Mingot proposed that the law on electric energy contains clear provisions on the terms of examining applications for adjustment of tariffs and subsequently a fund for amortisation of the financial gap between the cost of electricity purchases and income from sale thereof be created.

Another topic discussed at the meeting was possibility of forming a working group to identify the best solutions to the emerged situation and analyse the possibility of creating the fund proposed by GasNatural Fenosa, with the participation of decision-makers of the authorised state institutions, as well as the company's representatives.

Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet welcomed the proposals set forth by Antoni Peris Mingot, that could contribute to solving the occurred problems, specifying the need and importance of discussions and effective cooperation, based on mutual understanding, in order to avoid litigation between the sides and compromising the electricity delivery process.
