Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/ - twenty Moldovans will take post-university studies in the field of population statistics and demography developments according to European standards. The curriculum was launched in Chisinau on 14 September.
Deputy Labour, Social Protection and Family Minister Boris Gilca said that the syllabus would last two years and was funded by the Czech Development Agency. Studies will be carried out both in Moldova and the Czech Republic.
At the same time, Tomas Kucera, professor at the Prague-based Charles University and project coordinator, said that "adjusting of the system of studies in the field to EU standards is mandatory for EU accession and the best practices of the Czech Republic may be useful for Moldova.”
The system of demographic statistics provides for the development of indicators on the number of residents, natural movement and migration of the population. According to estimates of the National Statistics Bureau, 3,555,159 people (without the breakaway Transnistrian region and Tighina municipality) made up Moldova’s population on 1 January 2015.
