Veterans of Armed Forces condemn Russian diplomat's participation in 2 September event in Tiraspol

Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/- A group of veterans of the Armed Forces and law enforcement bodies, participants in the war for Moldova's independence condemned "unfriendly actions of the military attache of Russia in Chisinau".
The retired colonel, former deputy defence minister and secretary of Supreme Security Council, Alexandru Gorgan, today read a statement saying that "secessionist leaders, having an indication and support from Moscow, continue denationalisation of the native population, ignoring everything is part of our national heritage, including the children's right to study the mother tongue".
"There are also set the actions of Russian military attache in Chisinau, who ignored the recommendation by the Foreign and European Integration Ministry to the diplomatic missions accredited to Moldova not to participate in the events organised in Tiraspol on 2 September on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the so-called Transnistrian Moldovan republic", the statement said.
In this context, the veterans of the Armed Forces and law enforcement bodies disagreed with "this unfriendly act from Russian official" and noted that "fully back the position of the Defence Ministry and Foreign and European Integration Ministry". At the same time, the veterans noted that they "fully support the decision by Defence Minister Anatol Salaru to interrupt the cooperation relations with the Russian military attache".
They asked that "Russia should not involve in domestic affairs of our state and meet commitments to decisions of international organisations referring to withdrawal military units deployed in the left bank of the Dniestre from Moldova".
The statement was signed by police major general Victor Catan, former interior minister, brigadier Nicolae Petrica, ex-head of the general headquarters of the National Army, brigadier Vasile Grosu, colonels Alexandru Gorgan, Anatolie Cociug, Leonid Carasiov, Vasile Juraschi and Valeriu Dimitras.
