Chisinau hosts Moldovan-Romanian political consultations

Chisinau, 17 September /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur today held political consultations with Secretary of State for Strategic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania Daniel Ionita, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's information and media communication service has reported.

The officials addressed the bilateral political dialogue, Moldovan-Romanian cooperation in the economic, energy, cultural areas, as well as projects under implementation, with the support of Romania's government. The sides also approached Moldova's European integration, Transnistrian conflict and domestic political situation in Moldova.

The officials ascertained the continuous boosting and diversification of the bilateral ties. In the context of marking the fifth anniversary of the signing of the strategic partnership for European integration of Moldova in 2015, Andrei Galbur highlighted the importance of Romania's support for the European integration of Moldova, especially by the assistance provided to implement the Moldova-EU Association Agreement and Free Trade Area. At the same time, the sides agreed to enhance efforts to attract Romanian investors on the Moldovan market.

For his part, Daniel Ionita reiterated that Romania would further support the Moldovan authorities, to modernise Moldova and underlined Romania's willingness to provide the needed support to adjust the national legislation to the European one.

The officials also tackled the organisation of the 2nd joint meeting of Moldovan and Romanian governments, due in Tulcea, on 22 September. This event will be an occasion to strengthen the bilateral cooperation, including by launching and implementing new joint development projects.
