Chisinau, 18 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Romanian parliament will back the Moldovan one as to Moldova's European integration and implementation of the Association Agreement with EU, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
A memorandum of understanding between the Moldovan and Romanian parliaments was signed in Chisinau today. The document stipulates the boosting of inter-parliamentary cooperation by taking over good practices and expertise. The memorandum was signed by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and President of Romania's Chamber of Deputies Valeriu Ștefan Zgonea.
”The Moldovan and Romanian parliaments agree on the importance to responsibly involve in promoting the European values via the parliamentary institution and, to this end, the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of Romania may provide support and technical assistance in areas fitting the legal goals within the parliament's competence, both at the level of political corps of MPs and technical staff, for the carrying out of Moldova's obligations in accession to the European Union,” the memorandum reads.
The agreement also provides for the organisation of more meetings of the leaderships of the two parliaments once a year at least, both in Chisinau and Bucharest, consultations at the level of parliamentary commissions, as well as transfer of good practices at the level of secretariat, in order to efficiently support the legal act.
”This memorandum provides a new cooperation stage between the two institutions and is meant to foster our European integration efforts. Based on this agreement, the Romanian parliament will provide us with every necessary technical support and expertise, in order to enforce the Association Agreement and stipulated political support,” Candu said.
”There will be a transfer of expertise and know-how, which the Romanian parliament has acquired along 25 years of democratic experience and eight years since we are European Union members and which we want to transfer at parliamentary level, as well as at the level of parliamentary public servant of the Moldovan parliament. It is Romania's and the Chamber of Deputies' wish to back you, so that the European integration be without obstacles and faster,” Valeriu Stefan Zgonea added.
