Moldovan rescuers take part in drills in Ukraine

Chisinau, 24 September /MOLDPRES/- Employees of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service (SPCSE) participate in large-scale drills at the Iavorov International Training Centre, Lvov region, Ukraine, on 20-25 September.
SPCSE Press Officer Diana Turcan said that those 15 rescuers with 4 technical units, together with another 800 participants from 18 states, are part of rescue teams within the Ukraine 2015 ground drills. ”The employees of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service of the Interior Ministry take part together with colleagues from other states, with a SMURD and chemical decontamination teams. The exercise focuses on international operations for liquidating consequences of emergency situations caused by industrial accidents,” Turcanu said.
Under the scenario, the rescue teams are trained to remove consequences of chemical accidents, unblocking under ruins, fire extinguishing, as well as to provide qualified assistance when car accidents.
The mentioned drills takeplace under the aegis of the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre. A similar exercise, titled "Codru", in which participated rescue teams from 32 states, was organised in Moldova in 2011.
