Moldovan premier meets IMF delegation

Chisinau, 24 September /MOLDPRES/ - The group of negotiators, led by Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet, discussed with members of delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), headed by IMF Mission Chief for Moldova Ivanna Vladkova-Hollar, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The officials addressed aspects related to IMF mission's in Moldova, especially situation in the financing sector, economic evolutions, budgetary and fiscal policies and development prospects of ties between Moldova and the Fund.
Strelet said that the Moldovan government was determined to act efficiently in order to stabilise the macro-financial and economic situation and highlighted measures which had been already undertaken in this respect. At the same time, Strelet reconfirmed Moldova's interest in signing a memorandum on economic and financial policies with IMF and specified that this was vital for the development of Moldova, including through the viewpoint of ties with other development partners.
For her part, Ivanna Vladkova-Hollar voiced IMF's appreciation as to policies adopted by the Moldovan authorities over the past months in order to improve situation in the financial and banking sector. The official welcomed the decision to liquidate those three banks, where serious management problems were discovered. Ivanna Vladkova-Hollar confirmed the openness for a constructive dialogue with the Moldovan institutions during her mandate.
The IMF experts team is on a working visit to Moldova on 22 September – 6 October, in the context of preparations for periodic consultations for 2015, as well as in order to launch talks on policies that might lay the basis of a programme supported by the fund.
