Moldovan farmers receive agricultural equipment within Compact Programme

Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today attended an event on transmitting agricultural equipment, offered to farmers working in the 10 irrigation systems field, renovated within the U.S. Government's Compact Programme, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
Attending the event was also Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Millennium Challenge Corporation Nancy Lee, as well as U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James D. Pettit.
The premier thanked the U.S. Government for trust offering to Moldova assistance via the Compact Programme, as well as Millennium Challenges Fund for efficiently carrying out all activities of the complex programme. "The Compact Programme was the biggest assistance programme provided to Moldova. A programme that offered not only consistent investments worth about 262 million dollars, as well as innovative and transparent approaches, which led to achieving impressive results", he said.
Strelet noted that the fields supported by the programme represented priorities for the Moldovan government. "It is a model of planning and turning to good account of the assistance offered in infrastructure investments in Moldova", he said.
The event was preceded by a meeting of Strelet with Nancy Lee, accompanied by James D. Pettit.
The American officials pointed out that Moldova had successfully implemented the programme's projects and highlighted the importance of maintaining and using the restored systems and rebuilt roads.
In the context, Strelet assured that the government would fully involve in the process and expressed Moldova's interest in launch of a new Compact Programme meant to continue efforts of reforming and modernising the country.
