Moldovan PM attends new issue of European Researchers' Night

Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today participated in opening of a new issue of European Researchers' Night, held in the square of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.

The premier noted in his speech the importance of promoting science in Moldova. He remarked that Moldova was the first state within the Eastern Partnership area and second in the European Neighborhood Policy, which got the status of associated country at the most ambitious programme on research and innovation of EU - Orizont 2020.

At the same time, the premier underlined the role science had in state, society and life of everybody. "Effort of scientists is visible and marks us. We have to be thankful for added value in everyday life and for importance of results of scientific research at all levels of society", he said.

The premier assured that the government would further back the national science, and main landmarks in promoting policies on research development and innovations would be encouraging implementation of notable scientific achievements.

Strelet visited the exhibition stands and appreciated innovations, testing some creations by young researchers.

The European Researchers' Night is one of the most famous initiative of EU, which brings together scientists with general public and combines knowledges in specific fields in a friendly way. The second issue in Moldova is carried out under the aegis of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, International Project Centre, with the participation of research institutions and higher education institutions. 

The event is held  in over 300 European cities simultaneously on 25 September.
