Moldovan foreign minister delivers speech at UN Summit

Chisinau, 27 September /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman delivered a speech at a plenary meeting of UN Summit on adopting post-2015 development agenda on 26 September, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's communication and media relations service has reported.
The official tackled Moldova's vision on global actions of sustainable development, based on three fundamental components, such as: economic, social and environment ones. Gherman reaffirmed the need to preserve the planet's natural resources in order not to allow environmental degradation caused by human factor.
In the context, the official mentioned Moldova's commitments on sustainable development, especially, renewable energy development, representing a new industry for Moldova.
"European integration agenda and implementation of sustainable development goals are two complementary and indivisible strands", Gherman said. She noted that applying EU standards in all areas would lead to economic fortification and social cohesion in Moldova.
The official remarked Moldova's contribution, in partnership with German government and support of UNDP and World Labor Organisation, to identifying means for implementing goals on sustainable development. Moldova coordinated with Germany elaboration of a declaration on high-level meeting in Chisinau on effective institutional capacity building for implementing post-2015 development agenda.
UN Summit takes place in New York on 25-27 September, with the participation of high-level delegations from all world countries. Post-2015 agenda is a continuation and completion of UN goals on millennium development agreed at UN Summit in 2000 for a 15-year period. The global agenda includes 17 goals on sustainable development, a string of actions at global level for combating planet's ecological degradation, modern economic development, which should not affect natural capital and combat poverty. The post-2015 agenda is also meant for a 15-year period and becomes main framework for action and commitment for all UN member states in development efforts.
