Moldovan parliamentary delegation attends PACE's autumn session

Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/- A parliamentary delegation participates in autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), held in Strasbourg on 28 September-2 October, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The delegation, led by Deputy Speaker Liliana Palihovici, is made up of MPs Valeriu Ghiletchi, Vladimir Voronin, Valentina Buliga and Andrei Neguta.

The autumn session will start with debates on humanitarian and political response to the crisis of migrants and refugees in Europe.

The agenda also includes elections of PACE deputy head, judges of European Court of Human Rights, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, as well as debates on public health and interests of pharmaceutical industry, need of a "European asylum system", new challenges of transit countries on migration and asylum, activity of Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development in 2014-2015, implementation of ECHR decisions, religious freedom and coexistence in a democratic society, abuse of preventive detention in signatory states of European Convention of Human Rights, achievements of monitoring procedure in October 2014-August 2015, joint parental authority: role of fathers, anti-doping strategy review.

An award ceremony for human rights "Vaclav Havel" will take place on the first day of session. Prize amounting to 60,000 euros is yearly offered to a person, nongovernmental organisation or an institution advocating for human rights protection.

Under the agenda, Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Crnadak will present a communication within the PACE session, and Speaker of Italy's Chamber of Deputies Laura Boldrini and Secretary General of Council of Europe will debate the crisis of migrants and refugees in Europe.
