Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) might approve a new programme with Moldova in January 2016, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu made statements to this effect after a meeting with IMF mission today.
The experts team „is on fact-collecting mission, but which is part, at a first stage, of the mission on negotiating a new programme with IMF,” Candu said.
Candu added that more details would be provided on 6 October, when the mission ends its visit to Moldova. By late 2015, an IMF mission is to come to Moldova and, in an optimistic scenario, the programme might be approved in January.
„Certainly, changes happening in Moldova, political situations and relative political instability also have an effect on our ties not only with the International Monetary Fund, but with other development partners too,” Candu said.
Previously, IMF's Resident Representative in Moldova Armine Khachatryan has announced that a Fund's team of experts, led by Ivanna Vladkova-Hollar, was on a working visit to Chisinau „in the context of preparations for periodic consultations for 2015, based on Article IV of IMF Statute, as well as in order to launch talks on policies which might lay the basis of a programme supported by IMF”.
