Talks on election of bank's governor start, Moldovan speaker says

Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/- Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu today met the International Monetary Fund mission to Moldova. He said that the talks with parliamentary factions referring to the election of a governor of National Bank of Moldova (BNM) had already started.
The official added that "the talks started not in the ruling alliance, but with all leaders of parliamentary factions, consultations which should be finalised this week. I would like to see expectations and vision in general, and in this context, I will come up with several proposals".
Candu said he voiced hope very much that professionalism and transparency would be proved in the selection process.
"I hope that in the nearest future I will come up with proposals on selection of a candidate, as subsequently, we will have appointment of a governor and first deputy governor. Moreover, under amendments to the legislation on BNM, we have to appoint four members of supervisory board. This issue was discussed with the IMF mission", he said.
The speaker pointed out that candidacies had not been discussed, and what appears in the media about candidates to the governor position "are pure speculations".
Governor of the National Bank of Moldova Dorin Dragutanu and First Deputy Governor Marin Molosag resigned on 21 September. "It is a reply to pressures of some politicians", Dragutanu said.
The parliament is to rule on resignation application during three months upon its submission.
