Moldovan speaker, Swiss envoy approach bilateral relations

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/- Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu had a farewell meeting with Swiss Ambassador to Moldova Christian Schoenenberger on 28 September, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

Candu thanked the Swiss authorities for assistance offered to Moldova via the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC), which focused its efforts during the last years on improving quality of life of Moldovans in health, restoration of water supply systems, migration and development. Switzerland is the largest bilateral donor of Moldova in the public health sector.

At the same time, the speaker welcomed the initiative to start, besides the priority projects in health care, a string of assistance projects in migration and inclusion, meant to contribute to the economic development at local level and the mitigation of negative effects of migration phenomenon. In the context, Candu assured that the Moldovan authorities would further involve in carrying out sectoral projects implemented with SDC support.

Other issues were related to latest political evolutions in the country, economic situation, as well as topics of interest on the agenda of Moldovan-Swiss bilateral relations. The officials also discussed the priorities of the legislative agenda in the autumn session of parliament, including adopting regulatory framework meant to contribute to recovering financial-banking sector, advancing fight against corruption and reforming justice, improving business environment in Moldova.

Candu wished success to Schoenenberger, voicing hope that His Excellency would further remain close to Moldova.
