Moldovan premier, Lithuanian president broach cooperation, reforms, projects, support

Chisinau, 30 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman, has met Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė in New York, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
Strelet said that the ties between Moldova and Lithuania are based on solidarity and confidence, and highlighted the special quality of bilateral political dialogue, intensity of bilateral contacts and visits at various level.
The officials tackled the implementation of Moldova's European agenda, reforms implemented in order to take over European standards, especially in areas of interest for Moldova. „Lithuania is an important partner for Moldova, which backs us in carrying out local reforms and European aspirations,” Strelet said.
Strelet thanked for the support provided to Moldova by Lithuania. For her part, Dalia Grybauskaitė emphasised that Lithuania would continue to support Moldova to implement the provisions of Moldova-EU Association Agreement, as well as necessary reforms.
The sides also broached the development assistance and praised Moldova's keeping in the top 7 of priority states for the Lithuanian foreign assistance, within which joint projects on enhancing Moldovan customs, phytosanitary and judicial institutional capacities are implemented successfully.
