Moldovan, U.S. officials broach energy security

Chisinau, 1 October /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet, acoompanied by Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman, has had a meeting with Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The officials exchanged opinions about the best ways for surpassing challenges faced by Moldova, actions scheduled by Moldovan authorities and support that could be provided by the United States for quickly promoting the reforms.
Strelet approached the measures and Moldovan government's interest to prepare in short terms the conditions necessary to launch negotiations and sign a memorandum with the International Monetary Fund. The talks on the matter is to be continued within meetings between the premier and IMF representatives in Washington D.C. on 1 October.
An important topic of talks was related to energy security and government's priorities to this end.
Also, Strelet and Nuland tackled a string of issues referring to Transnistrian problem and regional security.
