Moldovan ruling alliance reconfirms commitments to citizens

Chisinau, 1 October /MOLDPRES/ - The parties of the Alliance for European Integration (AIE 3) "categorically reject any attempt of disintegration of the parliamentary majority, condemn the political migration, radical and destructive scenarios and requests, recently promoted in the public space by non- transparent political forces, which might expose Moldova to the risk of entering a dangerous spiral of civil tensions as well as a political and institutional crisis".

The Alliance made a statement to this effect today, by which this political coalition’s member parties reconfirmed their commitments to the citizens of Moldova.

The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), the Democratic Party (PDM) and the Liberal Party (PL) said they "will not yield to the pressures of interest groups that try to compromise the pro-European political direction."

At the same time, the three parties of the Alliance reaffirmed their "categorical political support for President Nicolae Timofti, the country's government and its programme". "Such a resignation would throw the country into early elections and a political, economic and social chaos, especially since there is no legal or constitutional reason for the head of state to leave his office before term," a statement by the Alliance reads.

The ruling coalition says it understood the discontent expressed by the citizens of Moldova regarding the economic, social issues, corruption and living standards. "We think the negative things can and must be changed and resolved with patience by all of us and through the government’s effort, within the legal and constitutional framework, using the instruments of a democratic state," the statement reads. In this context, the AIE 3 also reaffirmed its unconditional responsibility for all the reforms undertaken (financial and banking system, fight against corruption, justice), supported by the development partners: the EU and US.

"In exchange for the political claims and reckoning, we choose to take into account popular demands expressed within the last two elections by the Moldovan citizens’ majority vote", the declaration by the Alliance reads. However, for this, the ruling parties reconfirm that they would further promote the pro-European development direction and raise living standards, transparently and honestly fulfil the popular claims on depoliticising institutions and carry out the fight against corruption, as well as the necessary steps to strengthen the economy of the state and increase the financial security of every family.
