Moldovan PM hands grand prize in winemaking sector on National Wine Day

Chisinau, 3 October /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today participated in an event dedicated to National Wine Day, carried out at the Asconi winery in Puhoi village, Ialoveni district, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The event was marked at other ten wineries of the country. It was a special significance at the Asconi winery, given that the company got main trophy of 2015 in the wine sector.
The premier conveyed congratulations on the National Wine Day to professionals in the wine sector, to all those keeping the secular tradition of winemaking in the country, as well as guests who appreciated Moldovan wines. "This partimony can be an element of revival, which will promote us on foreign markets and will lead the fame outside the country", he said.
The premier handed the grand prix to the director of the Asconi company, Anatol Sirbu, for special merits in winemaking sector.
Strelet visited the production departments of the enterprise, familiarizing with technological process from grape harvest till the finished product - bottled wine. He appreciated the wine quality made by the winning company and the efforts to find new markets and to successfully export the production to more countries of the world.
The contest on grand prix for special merits in the winemaking sector was set up via a government decision of 3 October 2002. The prize is awarded to natural people and legal entities in the winemaking sector. Selecting participants is carried out by a commission made up of winegrowers, winemakers, economists, with participation of representatives of the Agriculture and Food Ministry and National Wine and Vine Office.
