Chisinau, 5 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today attended a press conference dedicated to celebrating the E-Government Centre’s 5 years of activity. During the event, the prime minister highlighted the importance of the government recognising the need to modernise the public sector by applying IT solutions and signing, to this effect, an agreement with the World Bank for the e-Transformation project, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The premier mentioned the achievements obtained so far through the implementation of the government infrastructure, used by all central public authorities: Mpass, MSign MPay, MCloud, MConnect. "I also use the MPay service through which it is very comfortable to pay taxes and bills. I believe that the e-government’s achievements are the key instrument to modernise the public sector, which will further provide all the necessary support for developing and using innovations to increase its efficiency and quality", the premier said.
At the same time, Valeriu Strelet spoke about the existence of some reticence regarding the degree of implementation of the project and the reluctance on behalf of some state structures. Thus, by using government platforms by all public institutions of the state, data exchange between the government’s authorities and other entities will be facilitated, the economy will become more competitive internationally and, last but not least, the platform is an effective mechanism in fighting corruption. "The government will encourage all existing instruments, further development of the project by understanding all the benefits, all the perspectives so that we can become a modern state and an efficient government in harmony with contemporary standards," the prime minister concluded.
The E-Government Centre was created on 18 August 2010. The institution provides a range of services such as electronic services for citizens and the business environment by providing transparency in accessing public data for citizens and businesses. In the last 5 years about 105 services were developed, the most notable ones being Mpass, MSign MPay, MCloud and MConnect.
