Chisinau, 5 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Defence Ministry in cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Moldova is organising a course on safely transporting ammunition and dangerous goods between 5 and 16 October.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Camerzan, the head of armament and military equipment of the General Staff, 16 Moldovan servicemen are familiar with the risks involved in handling ammunition, the national and international legal framework on safely transporting hazardous explosive goods, as well as the structure and deciphering of labels marking the hazardous cargo subject to transportation.
The sessions are held at the Bulboaca Military Training Base and at the Stefan cel Mare Motorised Infantry Brigade, and are taught by four National Army servicemen, previously trained by experts from Switzerland and Germany.
The course in the field of safely transporting ammunition and dangerous goods is part of a training project on management stocks of arms and ammunition, organised within the Memorandum of Understanding between the Defence Ministry and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe on the implementation of the complex programme in the field of small arms and light weapons and conventional arms in Moldova, signed on 28 October 2010.
