Moldovan government asks for new IMF mission in November

Chisinau, 6 October /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today had a meeting on assessing the results of visit by International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission, headed by Ivanna Vladkova-Hollar, held on 22 September-6 October, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
Ivanna Vladkova-Hollar said that the talks with Moldovan authorities had been constructive, pointing out the achievements in setting reform priorities. The official highlighted the importance for promoting balanced policies, consolidating financial system and implementing measures for ensuring macroeconomic stability of Moldova.
Strelet thanked for the work of IMF experts and reiterated the Moldovan government's firm determination to enforce the mission's recommendations, noting that they were important for the country's development. The premier opted for signing a memorandum on economic and financial policies with IMF as soon as possible. "Partnership with IMF is a precondition for macroeconomic stability of Moldova and development of relations with development partners", he said.
The premier asked for a new IMF mission to Moldova by early November to negotiate and sign a cooperation memorandum. On the other hand, the IMF representatives confirmed willingness to come back to Moldova given that Moldova would make progress on matters discussed over the mission's activity.
