Moldovan-Romanian military commission resumes activity after ten-year break

Chisinau, 8 October /MOLDPRES/- Aspects of bilateral cooperation, as well as the evolution of international and regional security have been discussed at a meeting of the Moldovan-Romanian joint military commission, after a break of ten years.
Defence Minister Anatol Salaru said that the support provided by the Romanian Ministry of National Defence in reforming and adaptation of the National Army to Euro-Atlantic standards was very important to the national military institution. In the context, Salaru reiterated the importance of the experience of servicemen who had studied in Romania and other European states, pointing out that they represented a fundamental resource for the army.
For his part, a deputy head of the department for defence policy at the Romanian Ministry of National Defence, brigadier Cristian Alexandru Eremia said that, on the last period, the leadership of the Moldovan National Army had made important steps for carrying out efficient reforms in training the staff, adjusting curricula to international standards and training troops.
The joint commission, made up of experts of both sides, is to analyze and intervene on the legal framework as regards the defence policy of the ministry.
