Chisinau, 8 October /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today chaired a meeting of the Economic Council to the prime minister. Attending the meeting were also representatives of the World Bank, members of the EU Delegation to Moldova and other development partners, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The officials addressed the previous decisions of the Council and ascertained several deficiencies in their implementation. The premier said all the decisions approved by the members of the Economic Council, including the ones before the swearing in office of the current cabinet, would be enforced, so that the Moldovan government and the business environment could successfully achieve their goal and remove obstacles to business development and ensure an encouraging investment climate.
The participants focused on the impact of state inspections on exports and imports. They also addressed the optimisation of inspections’ planning and implementation, suggesting ways to cut corruption risks and negative effects on Moldovan entrepreneurs. Representatives of the Moldovan business environment said state inspections were deficiently carried out in this sector. According to them, some public authorities interfered with the economic agents' activity without a justified reason, inspection mandate or any other necessary official papers. The officials also concluded that a string of state institutions with management attributions, had not yet implemented the online platform of the State Register of Inspections. Thus, only eight institutions out of 28 comply with the current legislation in this sector.
The prime minister asked institutions in charge to ensure transparent inspections and fight corruption. Strelet also encouraged Moldovan business people to claim their rights, insist on observance of the procedures and report misfeasance by inspection authorities. He assured their claims would be thoroughly examined, stressing it was necessary to comply with the legislation and fight tax evasion.
The next meeting of the Economic Council to Moldovan prime minister will be focused on the budgetary and fiscal policy for 2016.
