Moldovan PM welcomes creation of working group on relaunching anticorruption system

Chisinau, 9 October /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today participated in the first meeting of the working group on reforming and relaunching anti-corruption system. Attending the event were also Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, members of parliament and cabinet, leadership of the institutions specialised in fighting corruption, representatives of the diplomatic staff accredited to Moldova and international organisations, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The prime minister welcomed the creation of the this wide platform, which put face to face decision-makers of politics, prosecution, representatives of judiciary system, anti-corruption and civil society organisations, in order to settle Moldova's critical problem: fighting corruption.
Strelet said that, by the signing of the Association Agreement with EU, Moldova was set to carry out, first and foremost, measures on preventing and combating corruption, as well as actions on ensuring efficiency in fighting corruption and enforcing relevant international legal instruments.
"Consolidation of anti-corruption institutional system by excluding conflicts of powers, improvement of cooperation and efficient synchronization of reforms within the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA), Anticorruption Prosecution, National Integrity Commission, as well as creation of a court specialised in considering corruption-related issues actually represent the first goal included both in the government's action programme and action plan for 2015-2016. Ensuring functional independence of CNA represents an important goal in the fight against the scourge of corruption", he said.
Valeriu Strelet noted that the government would contribute to the activity of the working group by offering the sets of laws on integrity, prosecution reform, creation of anti-corruption courts, elaboration of a draft anti-corruption strategy for 2016-2018. "These are possible and achievable goals, and if we concentrate on this, sincerely work to achieve these goals, then we will succeed", he said.
The prime minister also stressed the importance of cooperation with development partners in this process.
