Chisinau, 9 October /MOLDPRES/- Construction of the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline will start "in several months", most probably in next spring, Deputy Economics Minister Valeriu Triboi said today.
"A feasibility study is under finalization, after the approval of which a technical project and the works themselves will start", he said. Triboi added that the construction works were scheduled to be completed in May 2018. The project's total cost is estimated at 83 million euros. If Moldova wants to become a gas transiting country, it is necessary to build a compression station, which will increase the cost of works by another 30 million euros.
"Next week, we will have meetings with the Romanian side within an intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation, in order to identify solutions to speed up carrying out electric energy interconnections," the deputy minister also said. Firstly, we plan construction of two out of three lines of interconnection with the Romanian electric system. The networks from southern Moldova, especially the one from Vulcanesti, represent priority.
The official added that an international advisor had been selected, in charge of developing feasibility studies for energy interconnections.
