International Labour Organisation to launch new assistance programme for Moldova

Chisinau, 9 October /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet met the head of the sub-regional office of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Antonio Grazioni, in Chisinau today. The officials exchanged views on the ILO’s activity in Moldova and the Decent Work Programme for 2016-2020, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Grazioni said the 2016-2020 programme would set up a cooperation framework between the ILO, Moldovan government, employers’ associations and trade unions, as the current assistance cycle ends in late 2015.
The premier praised the important role the ILO plays for Moldova, which had already ratified 40 of its conventions.
The officials also broached bilateral agreements on social protection. Strelet said the Moldovan government took efforts to bring to an end agreement negotiations with various states, especially Italy, with a high number of working Moldovan citizens; he added the rights of the latter was one of the government’s priorities. In this respect, Grazioni assured Moldova of his support in his capacity of head of the ILO sub-regional office.
Moldova joined the International Labour Organisation in 1992.
