Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today said he would not resign, in the wake of the latest events related to Liberal Democrat leader, Vlad Filat’s deprivation of parliamentary immunity.
Strelet said he had planned to give a speech in the parliament, “but the agenda of the meeting was disrupted by a suspicious coincidence of circumstances, namely triggered by several representatives of certain influential anti-European forces, who announced that something was going to happen. They gathered people outside and then the prosecutor general came in the parliament with a proverbial statement and request, which we all know has its own significance."
According to Strelet, today’s “well-directed spectacle, with lots of procedural violations, is way too thumping to be credible for Moldova's citizens. I am fully convinced that the PLDM president, Vlad Filat, has a strong personality and is absolutely capable of defending and proving his innocence”.
“I am sure that the main executor and denouncer will calmly go home today, to enjoy the comfort and luxury of the castles built on stolen money,” Strelet said. The prime minister added that he was baffled by the fact that the one who denounced was actually accused in a criminal case.
Strelet highlighted that “directives issued by various influence centres will be ignored, and the country will be governed in strict compliance with the Constitution, the law on government and its activity programme”.
“I have no right and I cannot afford to disappoint Moldova’s development partners, as I held rather positive talks, first of all, with the EU partners and the Romanian government, as well as the USA, which encouraged us to make changes. Regardless of the stratagems plotted by influential centres to keep the Republic of Moldova in captivity, Moldova will win, its people will be victorious,” Strelet concluded.
