Moldovan Liberal Democrats' leader run risk of 15 imprisonment years, if found guilty

Chisinau, 16 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Prosecutor General's Office today informed that it had found out relevant evidence following searches made within a file of passive corruption and influence peddling, within which the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Vlad Filat, is being suspected.
According to prosecutors, the evidence confirm that a part of the testimonies given by the denouncer and are to be investigated.
Presently, prosecutors consider more documents accumulated within the prosecution, in order to formulate the indictment. Also today, some key witnesses were summoned to be heard within this file.
On 15 October, prosecutors and officers of the National Anti-Corruption Centre detained Vlad Filat in a file on passive corruption and influence peddling. The MP is suspected of having received financial means and assets worth 250 million dollars from a business people for providing services on the period of holding the office of prime minister.
A press release by the Prosecutor General's Office says that "if found guilty, the politician runs the risk of being sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment and fined with up to 200,000 lei, with the depriving of the right of holding public offices for a period from 10 to 15 years."
On 15 October evening, law-enforcers made searchers at Vlad Filat's home, his parents and PLDM headquarters.
