Chisinau, 16 October /MOLDPRES/- The Democratic Party (PD) said it did want neither to denounce the agreement of the Alliance for European Integration (AIE), nor to call snap elections. Such actions “could bring Moldova to a political crisis and conflicts, just like it happened after the previous denouncement of the AIE agreement had been made,” a PDM press release reads.
“We have to prove that we have learned from past mistakes and avoid making them now. PDM does not want snap elections, even though a party must always be ready for snap polls, and we are. We believe reforms are more important now, than a new electoral campaign,” the press release reads.
The PDM states that the accusations of their colleagues from the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) are groundless and based on tension and emotions. The PDM also welcomes the fact that “Vlad Filat has the right to be presumed innocent and will not voice any position on the charges against him, until proved guilty by a court”.
Democrats say the disintegration of the governing coalition could put Moldova and its citizens to the worse. More than ever, Moldova needs stability and unity to regain peoples’ trust in state institutions.
Liberal Democrat MP Vlad Filat on 15 October launched serious accusations against PDM and some of its representatives, after being stripped off parliamentary immunity and qualified for criminal investigations with the vote of 79 MPs.
