Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/- More MPs of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) filed a claim with the Constitutional Court (CC) today, thereby demanding examination of the lawfulness of the decision to strip Liberal Democrat MP Vlad Filat off immunity.

According to Liberal Democrat MP Tudor Deliu, the PLDM asks CC to urgently consider the constitutionality of the parliament’s decision to deprive Vlad Filat of parliamentary immunity.

“The procedures of lifting the parliamentary immunity were violated at that time. We hope that CC will issue its ruling in emergency regime,” Deliu said.

Tudor Deliu added that, according to the law, the prosecutor should have submitted the claim to the speaker, who was supposed to forward it to the parliamentary commission for rules and immunities, that was to take a decision within 15 days. Following the vote of the commission, the parliament’s standing bureau should have held a meeting within seven days and include this issue on the agenda, while the MPs were to decide on the matter by secret voting.
