Moldovan Foreign Ministry backs EU professional training programme for journalists

Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/- The Foreign and European Integration Ministry, in partnership with the Romanian Euromonitor Foundation for Excellence and the Moldovan National Communication Centre, as well as with the support of the JTI Moldova company, implemented the first stage of the JTI European Scholarships for Journalism program, the 2015-2016 issue, on 16-18 October, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.

The programme offers journalists professional expertise in European subjects.

Attending the event were Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, Pirkka Tapiola, EUHLPAM (EU High Level Policy Advice Mission to Moldova) councilor at the Economics Ministry, Daniels Pavluts, diplomats, journalists and experts in various areas from Brussels, Bucharest and Chisinau. The officials focused on foreign journalistic expertise in addressing European matters, implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, advantages of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area for Moldova, EU’s digital agenda, Transnistrian conflict’s settlement, combating of media propaganda and other issues.

The next three stages of the programme are:

-A professional training held in Romania, with the support of EU relations experts;

-A one-week study visit to Brussels, during which journalists will be given opportunity to meet and discuss with EU officials and visit various EU institutions;

- three-week professional internships at prestigious EU media institutions;

Journalists eligible to continue their participation in the project will be selected at the end of each stage.
