Moldovan government starts appointing candidate to top court's judge position

Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/- The government today is going to start selection of a candidate for the position of judge of the Constitutional Court (CC), Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet said at a today's news conference.
According to the legislation in force, CC magistrates are appointed by the president, parliament, government. Presently, CC has a mandate available for the cabinet.
"To avoid any public speculations or attempts to manipulate public opinion, alleging that proposed candidates represent certain parties, I personally ruled to form a contest commission and start a pre-selection contest, encouraging all specialists entitled to apply for this position", the prime minister said.
The selected candidate will be approved by a government decision and will be presented to parliament for approval.
