Moldovan PM meets representatives of agricultural companies

Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today met representatives of Moldovan farmers. Attending the event was also Agriculture and Food Minister Ion Sula, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The participants in the meeting reviewed up-to-date problems of the agricultural field, focusing on two basic topics: arrears to subsidies and compensations for fruit producers who incurred losses as a result of the embargo put by Russia in 2014.
Referring to the execution of payment documents on arrears to subsidies of 2014, the participants in the meeting agreed that the outstanding payments would be fully covered by late October.
The second issue was related to compensations worth 45 million lei for fruit producers, who suffered in the wake of Russia's embargo, put in 2014. "Even if these means are not provided for in the draft law on adjusting the 2015 state budget, recently approved by government and sent to parliament, they are to be identified by joint additional efforts, so that a solution should be found for the 45 million lei, meant for fruit producers owning areas larger that 15 hectares, could be paid this year", Valeriu Strelet said, appreciating the cooperating attitude of the farmers towards the situation.
