Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/- The parliamentary faction of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) has asked to organise a special parliament meeting, to consider claims by protesters from the Great National Assembly Square, and to which their representatives are to be invited.
PLDM MP Chiril Lucinschi said the proposal would be submitted to the parliament's standing bureau today. "It is not normal that all top state institutions have meetings with protesters, and the parliament - not. Also, we demand that Speaker Adrian Candu urgently distributes to the lawmakers the petitions submitted by protesters to take knowledge of their essence," he said.
Lucinschi added that "the MPs are obliged to take attitude and to be close to people".
Thousands of citizens have been protesting on the Great National Assembly Square for more than half a year, discontented with with the current government. They submitted a string of claims to the state institutions, demanding the dismissal of the Moldovan president, leadership of Prosecutor General's Office and National Anticorruption Centre.
