Chisinau, 22 October /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Andrian Candu said the parliamentary factions of the Party of Communists (PCRM) and Party of Socialists (PSRM) today had initiated a motion of censure against the government headed by Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet. The parliament is to consider the motion at a meeting due on 29 October.
According to Candu, the parliamentary faction of the Democratic Party (PD) has not yet discussed this subject. He added that the PD wanted to keep the current ruling coalition intact. “Though our colleagues from the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) are currently hinting at the existence of another coalition, we want to reach consensus. We want them to return to the Alliance for European Integration (AIE), which they almost left,” Candu said.
Democrat and Liberal leaders today informed that Liberal Democrat MPs said their party would stay in the Alliance only if the head of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) and the general prosecutor were dismissed.
Liberal Democrat MP Vadim Pistrinciuc said the PLDM faction’s requirements were not out of the ordinary, whereas the reformation of the justice sector was one of the priorities previously unveiled by the AIE. He added that the PLDM would ask for summoning a meeting of the AIE council to clear up sensitive issues.
