Top EU official reiterates support for Moldova’s European integration

Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/ - Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman today had a meeting with European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmstrom, on a two-day visit to Chisinau, the Foreign Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
At the meeting, Gherman reiterated the Moldovan government’s commitment to implement various reforms for the benefit of the citizens. “We ascertained an increase in Moldova’s exports to the EU just in one year of implementing the provisions of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement. Consolidation of institutional capacities to achieve a proper enforcement of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) is still an essential priority of the current government,” the minister said.
The Moldovan official also welcomed the facilities the EU offers to Moldovan small and medium sized enterprises, to help them adjust to its standards.
For her part, Malmstrom reiterated the EU's willingness to back Moldova’s development on its EU integration path and help it maximally turn the potential of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement to good account.
