Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/- Former Prime Minister Vlad Filat will continue to stay under preventive arrest, as the Court of Appeal today rejected the appeal lodged by his lawyers.
After almost three hours of talks, the magistrates ruled to reject the appeal lodged by Filat’s lawyers.
Vlad Filat told journalists that the actions of the law-enforcers represented a show. "They try to put the fraud at Banca de Economii (BEM) on my account. I am morally and physically prepared to lead this battle up to the end. I consider that the assumption of innocence is violated without any evidence," Filat said.
The lawyer of Vlad Filat, Igor Popa, said he would appeal to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Vlad Filat, was detained by the officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (CNA) on 15 October 2015, after being stripped of parliamentary immunity by the Moldovan parliament to be subjected to criminal investigation. Filat is suspected of influence peddling and passive bribery.
