Moldovan premier says preventing, fighting violation of children's rights essential goal of government

Chisinau, 22 December /MOLDPRES/ - The protection and promotion of the rights of the child represented the main subject tackled at a today's meeting of the National Council for Child Rights Protection (CNPDC), chaired by acting Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
"This is an up-to-date and essential subject, the care for children is the state's care as well, especially for children without parental care. The institutions in charge of bringing up children and their education development must be provided with all needed means, so that they develop in a normal environment and their rights not be violated," acting Prime Minister, CNPDC head Gheorghe Brega said in the beginning of the event.
Brega highlighted that the efficiency of the actions undertaken by the state to create good conditions for children depended not only on the work of governmental structures, but also on the involvement of the entire society. "I want us to have an as productive as possible cooperation for the good of our children," Gheorghe Brega said.
Participants in the meeting unveiled a report on CNPDC's work in 2014-2015, as well as the outcomes of the Council's collaboration with international organisations backing Moldova for child rights' protection, such as: United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Moldova, Terre des Homes-Lausanne Foundation and Embassy of France to Moldova.
Representatives of the Education Ministry, Health Ministry, Labour, Social Protection and Family Ministry, Interior Ministry and Justice Ministry presented more reports on primary study of the suicide phenomenon and suicide attempts among children, in order to establish the profile of the vulnerable child and the reasons for the phenomenon. The participants in the discussion analysed the present stage of implementation of recommendations by experts in the sector.
Also, participants in the meeting unveiled an action plan on prevention and fighting the school dropout, as well as measures of creating conditions for the work of creches in Moldova. In this context, acting Education Minister Corina Fusu said there were more problems in terms of providing services of education to children in creches, referring to the lack of specialised educators. The minister stressed the importance of creche services for children aged between 1.5 and 3 years as a priority for the social and economic support of low-income families.
The National Council for Child Rights Protection was set up in 2005 as a governmental body ensuring the working out and enforcement of policies of protection of child's and family's rights. The Council is made up of representatives of central public authorities, international organisations and non-governmental organisations working in this sector.
