Moldovan parliamentary delegation participates in PACE winter session

Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/ - The parliamentary delegation of Moldova participates in the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The event takes place in Strasbourg on 25-29 January, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The delegation, led by Deputy Parliament Speaker Liliana Palihovici, is made up of MPs Valentina Buliga, Valeriu Ghiletchi and Andrei Neguta.
The participants in the session will approach issues of migration phenomenon in Europe and refugee crisis, fighting international terrorism and women’s protection, as well as the work of democratic institutions in Poland. The agenda also includes discussing reports on “escalation of violence in Nagorno-Karabakh region and other territories occupied by Azerbaijan”, "Foreign fighters from Syria and Iraq”, "Situation in Kosovo and Council of Europe’s role”. PACE is to adopt a string of recommendations and resolutions on issues related to access to education, as well as judicial corruption.
Also, the participants will consider a request by the parliament of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to become a PACE partner with democratic status. MP Valeriu Ghiletchi will be a rapporteur on this subject.
The president and deputy president of PACE will be elected today, on first day of the session.
Under the agenda, Bulgarian President Rossen Plevneliev, captains regents of San Marino Lorella Stefanelli and Nicola Renzi, as well as Bulgarian Foreign Minister, Chairman of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers Daniel Mitov will convey messages at the event. At the same time, Secretary General of Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland will present the annual report.
