Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister Pavel Filip today asked authorities in charge to ensure the necessary conditions to prevent and treat cancer, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Realizing the seriousness of this disease, Filip said it was necessary to increase responsibility and ensure conditions to prevent and treat cancer, which takes thousands of lives away.
“We must highlight the importance of prevention measures, by reducing risk factors and providing the necessary conditions so that cancer may be diagnosed in its early stages. I urge scientists, doctors, patients, business people, the civil society and the mass media to join their efforts to prevent this disease,” the prime minister noted.
Filip suggested that the Health Ministry uses the money of the compulsory health insurance fund to create an Endoscopy Centre for colon cancer screening within the Oncology Institute. The ministry shall also revise the tariffs for medical-sanitary services and submit the cabinet a draft law on new accessible prices.
The prime minister has also required that authorities in charge take concrete measures to improve the radiotherapy service for cancer patients, by offering efficient radiotherapy sessions and promoting an accessible tariff policy. To this effect, business people are encouraged to help improve life quality in Moldova by enforcing social corporate responsibility and cooperating with development partners.
