Chisinau, 9 February /MOLDPRES/ - The faction of the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM) from the Chisinau municipal council (CMC), at a today’s news conference, informed that it withdrew its signatures from the declaration on foundation of CMC’s pro-European Alliance.
The head of the PPEM faction, Oazu Nantoi, read a message to this effect. Nantoi said that the pro-European alliance had not achieved its goal of settling the problems of the Chisinau residents. “We ascertain that, also locally, the promises of the so-called pro-Europeans are nothing but a screen for schemes and personal interests,” Nantoi said.
In this context, the politician stressed that the PPEM faction had not backed any draft decision which can be suspected of infringements of the legal framework. “We are deeply indignant at the fact that the alleged party doctrines, displayed in a hysterical and populist way, have annihilated the joint responsibility of the councilors before the city,” the PPEM councilor said.
The faction of the European People’s Party of Moldova found out that “a transparent partnership between the municipal council and the general mayor was failed to be achieved; instead, they want the CMC to become a docile annex of the City Hall’s corrupt apparatus.”
At the same time, the PPEM faction did not declared switching to the opposition, but reaffirmed the list of priorities, among which “eliminating corruption and conflict of interests at the City Hall.”
The agreement on the creation of the pro-European alliance in the Chisinau municipal council was signed on 3 September 2015. The document was signed by 26 councillors of the Liberal Party, European People’s Party of Moldova, Liberal Democratic Party and Democratic Party. The PPEM faction in CMC is made up of five councilors.
