Moldovan foreign minister, Belgian ambassador discuss cooperation, support

Chisinau, 9 February /MOLDPRES/-Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur today met Bucharest-based Belgian Ambassador to Moldova Thomas Baekelandt, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The officials broached matters related to the current state and prospects of Moldovan-Belgian ties, reiterating their mutual interest in further developing the bilateral commercial-economic and political dialogue. In this context, the sides emphasized the importance of entering into force on 1 January 2016 of the Moldovan-Belgian agreement on social security and its positive impact on Moldova’s citizens.
The Belgian ambassador reiterated Belgium’s availability to further back Moldova’s efforts to implement the reforms provided in the EU Association Agreement.
For his part, Galbur highlighted the new government’s firm decision to continue Moldova’s EU integration course and boost up the implementation of reforms, focusing in particular on curbing corruption, as well as reformation of the justice and financial-banking sectors.
