Moldovan foreign minister receives congratulatory messages from European counterparts

Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur has received congratulatory messages from the foreign ministers of Slovenia, Spain and Italy, on his appointment to office, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
In his message, Slovenian Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec gave assurances that his country would actively back Moldova in its efforts to establish as close as possible relations with the Euro-Atlantic structures and that it would closely cooperate to achieve this goal.
In his letter, the Spanish Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister encouraged the new cabinet to persevere on the way of reforms, in order to cope with the challenges it was facing, including in terms of fighting corruption, strengthening the state based on the rule of law, creating a friendly climate for foreign investments – needed prerequisites for a continuous rapprochement with the European Union. The official reiterated Spain’s commitment to further back efforts to identify a political solution within the five-plus-two negotiations, by observing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova.
For his part, Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni expressed confidence that the new Moldovan government would continue the process of domestic reforms with a new strength, in order to fully implement the Association Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement with the European Union, including via a direct dialogue with the civil society. At the same time, Paolo Gentiloni confirmed the Italian cabinet’s willingness to further cooperate with Moldova, on the basis of a joint declaration, signed in Rome on 15 October 2014, and to support the country’s European integration.
