Moldovan cabinet approves ratifying agreement on grant with International Development Association

Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/ - The government today approved a draft law on ratification of a grant agreement between Moldova and the International Development Association, to carry out a project titled, Strengthening the Education Management Information System (EMIS), signed in Chisinau on 3 November 2015. The accord provides for borrowing a loan worth 365,000 dollars.

According to the government’s communication and media relations department, the agreement will help consolidate the quality and use of education statistics to take management decisions at various levels, will promote a friendly environment for social responsibility in the education sector of Moldova, by opening access to data and encouraging the supervision of the education services by citizens.

At the same time, the grant offered will directly support the reforms underway by strengthening capacities of the Education Ministry and will help district authorities and education institutions fully use the newly created Strengthening the Education Management Information System, in order to take decisions on education based on evidence and implement wider initiatives of accessible data.

Within the project, decision-makers will undertake actions to strengthen the statistics and analytical capacities, improve the quality and reliability of data through EMIS and measures to open data in the education sector.
