European Bank for Reconstruction, Development to grant 250 thousand euros to modernize Moldovan railways

Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/- The cabinet today approved a draft law on the ratification of a grant the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is offering Moldova. The document is part of the Moldovan Railways Restructuring Project, implemented with EBRD’s support, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Following the ratification of the agreement, Moldova will receive a 250-thousand-euro grant from EBRD’s special fund. The money will be used to implement short or long-term new practices, aiming to develop the railway system.
The agreement is meant to implement reforms in the railway sector, included on the agenda of Moldova-EU Association Agreement, as well as provided in the Transports and Logistics Strategy for 2013-2022.
The document is to be submitted to the Moldovan president for further examination.
