Moldovan foreign minister, OSCE secretary general discuss priority issues

Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/-Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur met OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier today. The meeting was held in the framework of the 52nd edition of Munich Security Conference.
The officials approached topical and priority issues within the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), focusing upon ways to enhance its role in preventing and settling conflicts. The sides have also tackled the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, challenges to regional security, as well as creating a new security climate on the continent. In the context, the officials broached the expectations of OSCE’s German chairmanship and other interested sides, related to the opportunity to resume five-plus-two negotiations as soon as possible, in order to find a solution for the Transnistrian conflict, observing Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The officials have also exchanged views on Moldova’s social-political situation and measures to be taken in order to overcome the difficulties the Moldovan society is currently facing.
Galbur said Moldova paid special attention to OSCE’s role of dialogue platform on building a new security environment in Europe, finding ways to settle regional conflicts and consolidation of preventive diplomacy. In this context, he thanked OSCE for its valuable contribution, voicing recognition to OSCE’s mission to Moldova in particular, for promoting the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict in the five-plus-two format negotiations, boosting up the political dialogue between Moldovan and so-called Transnistrian authorities, as well as for backing the activity of working groups in charge of consolidating confidence-building measures between both banks of Dniester River.
